The sustainable development strategy of the organisation for the period 2003–2007 was based on a series of pillars employed as the bases of the strategic plan known by the title Feeding the future:

This strategic plan was drawn up after having studied all factors – economic progress, the environment, social and ethical questions, health and safety, corporate governance, quality and innovation, safety at work, corporate standing and transparent accountability. From the progress and achievements made, during the initial five-year cycle, and from an analysis of where room for improvement remained came a revised version of the Guideline Plan.
It is important to underline that this revision has allowed the company to identify the achievements, reinforce good practices and correct deviations. Although the main objectives of the initial plan were achieved, the organisation detected the opportunity of making a revision of the map of stakeholders and their expectations in order to improve the respond to their requirements.
That process of revision was used as a starting point for a new medium- and long-term programme. On this basis, i.e. on present concerns, the Guideline Plan has been updated for the next three years.
