Values of the Mediterranean diet

To turn the organisation into a byword in all things relating to the Mediterranean diet and using the concept as a starting point not only for the product portfolio but also for the management model.

Consolidation of healthful products closely identified with the Mediterranean diet; making consumers better aware of the advantages of the diet, by means of the product website. A communication policy oriented towards sustainability in matters of health and the environment. Grupo SOS has made a major effort to use its website not only as a means of advertising its presence but as a way of generating greater awareness among the public at large on issues of general concern: health, the environment, etc.

Environmental information can be found on the product websites of Koipe, Happyday and Carbonell.

Local integration

Making a commitment to the local communities in which our plants and offices are located.

Further progress at our plant in Tunisia: additional training, review of production processes; development of new products.

Proposal for an employee volunteering project at the plant in Algemesí, Spain.

Food aid programme. In the four years that this programme has been running the Group has provided thousands of tonnes of food and drink, valued at more than EUR 400,000.

Innovation

Developing the ability to innovate in order to meet the requirements of markets that grow daily larger and more demanding, basing our action on the principles informing the Mediterranean diet.

Improved processes to optimise production and reduce consumables and environmental impact.

  • Start-up of a waste-water treatment plant to deal with the waste generated by special products at Andújar, Spain.
  • Development of a project designed to optimise the refrigeration system for fermenting vinegars.

Improved positioning in new issues of public concern

Commitment to work in those areas relating to food production and sustainable development that are of growing concern to the public at large.

Ratification by Grupo SOS of the Poznan conference communiqué on climate change.

Grupo SOS was invited to take part in the workgroup responsible for drafting the Diversity Charter for application in Spain.

Integrity and transparency

Convert the company into a byword in good corporate governance practice.

In September Grupo SOS was listed on the FTSE4Good IBEX, the index of companies meeting good standards of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The Group’s third ‘Communication on Progress’ was awarded the qualification of ‘notable’ by the United Nations.

The Group achieved widespread recognition from the Spanish press for its work on food aid.
