The NAOS (Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention) Strategy

The Ministry of Health and Consumption and the Spanish Federation of the Food and Drinks Industries (Federación Española de Industrias de la Alimentación y Bebidas, FIAB), to which the SOS Group belongs, have signed an agreement by which the companies represented by FIAB commit themselves to take measures in order to confront problems of diet in Spanish society.

This agreement falls within the Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity prevention Strategy (Nutrición, Actividad Física y prevención de la Obesidad, NAOS) prepared by the Ministry of Health and Consumption through the Spanish Agency for Food Safety (Agencia Española de Seguridad Alimentaria, AESA). This strategy has the following purposes:

  • To invert the tendency towards increase in obesity, with particular reference to child obesity.
  • To promote the regular practice of physical activity and the acquisition and maintenance of a pattern of healthy and balanced food consumption based on energy expenditure.
  • To prevent the development of behavioural disorders regarding food.
